STEP’s mission is to equip motivated, low-income Arizona students with the knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills to successfully transition to college and attain a college degree.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Together with the President/Founder and the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will forward the mission of the Student Expedition Program (STEP) with skill and passion. This position will report to the Board of Directors, and will represent STEP in the greater Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas as well as nationwide. Primary areas of responsibility are as follows:
The CEO will oversee the operations and also the administration of the Board by advising and informing board members, assisting in the selection and orientation of board members, and recruiting prospective board members.
The CEO will drive the fundraising effort, including strategic planning, in order to ensure the financial health, sustainability, and growth of STEP. The CEO will have strong relationships in the nonprofit, foundation, and corporate community and will have a proven track record of fund development. The CEO will cultivate and secure new funding sources; maintain and enhance relationships with current donors; build a strong alumni donor base; and manage fundraising records, reports, and documentation. Additional components of STEP’s fundraising strategy will include an annual event and fostering corporate relationships in furtherance of STEP’s internship program.
The CEO will ensure the organization's mission and programs are consistently presented with a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders as well as the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan communities and new areas as identified. The CEO will have a strong marketing background.
The CEO will develop a yearly budget for Board approval and prudently manage STEP's organizational resources within those budget guidelines. The CEO will oversee all financial accounting as well as tax, risk management, and compliance policies.
The CEO will cultivate STEP alumni as donors and supporters of the program and build a strong alumni donor network.
The CEO will maintain STEP’s donor database in Salesforce. The CEO will be proficient in Salesforce, Word, and Excel.
Location: Phoenix Metropolitan Area, Arizona. Requires occasional travel to Tucson to work with board members and donors there. For additional program information, visit www.stepexpedition.org.
