Our Opportunity:
Do you want to be part of a Data Engineering team building the next generation analytics platform for a leading financial firm with $3 Trillion in assets under management? At Schwab, the Global Data Technology (GDT) organization governs the strategy and implementation of the enterprise data warehouse and emerging data platforms. We help Marketing, Finance, Risk and executive leadership make fact-based decisions by integrating and analyzing data.

We are looking for a Solutions Architect who has a passion for data and the new technology patterns that support business insight and analytics. We need someone with experience implementing data solutions across a wide variety of tools and technologies. As a Solutions Architect you will be responsible for partnering with business product leadership to understand and interpret solution requirements. The role also includes working with Platform Architects to ensure technical integrity and consistency of solutions with Schwab’s strategy and standards. This role requires someone excited to advance a team through the transition from traditional data solutions to emerging data patterns.

What you’ll do:
Work with business product owners to understand business requirements and use cases
Create technical and business solutions architectures (logical and physical)
Resolve questions during design and implementation of architecture
Evaluate tools for use case fit, perform vendor/tool comparisons and present recommendations
Contribute to the capability roadmaps for data platforms
Review schemas, data models and data architecture for Hadoop and Teradata environments
Prototype solutions for specific use cases
Advise peers and business partners on fit-for-use and technical complexities
Partner with other technical leaders for solution alignment with strategy and standards
Provide technical and thought leadership in bringing optimal solutions to enterprise scale business problems.

What you have:
Experience in Analytics, and Marketing Solutions or Marketing Automation or Personalization or Digital Marketing (SEO, Paid Media, Social Media etc.)
Deep understanding of internet protocols, web services, API development, and service based architectures
Experience with end-to-end solution architecture for data capabilities including:
Experience with Advanced Analytics (SAS, R, Python)
Experience with Graph and In-memory databases
Experience with ELT/ETL development, patterns and tooling (Informatica, Talend)
Experience with Agile, Test Driven Code Development and SCM tools
Hands-on experience with Hadoop, Teradata (or other MPP RDBMS), MapReduce, Hive would be a plus
Experience with Machine Learning techniques and practices would be a plus
Strong scripting / programming background (Unix, Python preferred)
Strong SQL experience with the ability to develop, tune and debug complex SQL applications
Experience in real time and batch data ingestion
Experience with Hadoop, Teradata (or other MPP RDBMS), MapReduce, Hive, Sqoop, Splunk, STORM, SPARK, Kafka and HBASE would be a plus
Fluent understanding of best practices for building Data Lake and analytical architectures on Hadoop would be a plus
Familiarity with MapR distribution of Hadoop is preferred
Some practical implementation of Apache Spark & other projects (SparkML for machine learning) would be highly desirable.
Experience in deploying Machine Learning models and operationalizing is a plus
Experience with writing proposals, project planning and management, technical solution design and execution
Expertise in schema design, developing data models and proven ability to work with complex data is required
