Acutus Medical is an exciting and growing team of innovative professionals focused on the development of medical technologies that will revolutionize the treatment strategies of patients with complex cardiac arrhythmias. We are currently looking for an Engineer 2 – Electrical (req #2018-010)to join our team.

Position Overview

The electrical engineer is responsible for the design and development of custom medical device equipment, including component level design of PC boards and other electromedical device assemblies. The electrical engineer will work on multidisciplinary project teams during initial feasibility, design and development, design transfer and continued post release maintenance. The electrical engineer ensures product adherence to electrical performance, safety, and EMC standards as well as creation and release of all design control documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Works under limited guidance. Contributions impact the overall team's objectives. May provide limited input on overall project goals. Is a collaborative team player and demonstrates open-mindedness and flexibility. Creates innovated and creative solutions to keep projects on-track. Maintains a high degree of quality in all work performed. Has a high degree of skill, particularly in the languages and techniques used in Acutus engineering.
Completes low level DFMECA Anlysis and fault tree development.
Participates in team of experts of different fields (electrical engineers, scientist, clinical experts, etc.)
Participates in development lifecycle (research, development, documentation, validation, release management)
Responsible for compliance with quality system procedures and all regulatory requirements.

Must demonstrate mutual respect, ongoing communication and a positive outlook with both internal team members and customers.


Demonstrates technical proficiency. Regularly collaborates with others in suggesting valuable solutions as an active contributor. Works on moderately complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Interprets data and draws conclusions regarding results used in presented material.
Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience and a Bachelor's or 2 years related experience and a Master's degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in design of mixed signal, low level analog and power supply design.
Hardware design and system integration, design of experiments, laboratory testing, and data analysis
Analysis, design, simulation, quick prototype, and debug of new electrical circuits and sub-systems.
Create experimental platforms to accurately measure performance of both current and proposed solutions.
Solicit, analyze, and document engineering requirements. Maintain and update the requirements and design documentation throughout the entire system life cycle. Perform requirements traceability to ensure proper allocation of system requirements to subsystems.
Working familiarity with state of the art electronics design tools such as schematic capture (Orcad, Eagle), simulation (Spice, Comsol) as well as system / software tools (MatLab, Labview).
Must be able to understand job duties and responsibilities, have the necessary skills/knowledge and be willing and able to continue learning and growing within the field.
Must be skilled at managing a significant workload and obtaining positive results, taking on additional responsibility and managing priorities as needed.
