Cabot Microelectronics has an immediate opening for a Process Engineer in our Hollister, CA plant. This position supports the operations of the plant by overseeing impactful capital projects, leads next generation expansion & construction of systems, provides technical support in maintenance of current equipment and generates optimal solutions to maximize output.

Job functions:
Provides clear communication to Operations, Quality Assurance, lab and all site departments
Provides research, plans, and designs for systems and capital projects, assists in directing and coordinating activities involved in operations applications, installation and repair of mechanical, electrical and/or environmental projects and systems
Develops and oversees installation of capital engineering projects; researches, designs and sends request for proposal; oversees various assigned engineering projects and pieces of projects; obtains contractor bids and quotes
Conducts or participates in Feasibility Reviews for proposed projects
Directs supervision of contractors and/or project work
Monitors Capital Engineering funds and report on project status
Leads and/or participates in HAZOP reviews
Participates in Basic Safety Processes, safety committees and teams as assigned, and Life Safety Code management
Participates on Root Cause Analysis Teams
Establishes safety procedure Review / Revision / Training / Implementation
Handles incident investigations; formulates and/or implements corrective actions as required
Participates in Profit Improvement Process (PIP)
Contributes to the design of other systems, instrumentation, controls, robots, engines, machines, etc. used in operational systems as assigned
Ensures required approvals are obtained at appropriate stages of project; ensures that all project documentation is in place and in compliance with Company global standards
Stays updated on Federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations and associated Company policies
Ensures that all assigned projects follow company and regulatory requirements
Assists in developing, monitoring, coordinating and controlling annual expenses and capital budgets for technical projects
Assists in maintaining preventative maintenance records ensuring maintenance is performed as scheduled and documented; recommends improvements as necessary
Ensures appropriate information is communicated to each location, Engineering and Maintenance as appropriate
Prepares and delivers technical support presentations
Consults with locations on asset maintenance, facility design and preventative maintenance programs as assigned
Trains regularly on all Federal, state and local environmental regulations, requirements and guidelines including, but not limited to, RCRA requirements; follows and adheres to all guidelines, regulations, and requirements
Performs other duties assigned by management that fall within the generally expected scope of this position

Requirements:
1-5 years of engineering experience in chemical plant or similar environment. Recent graduates with an applicable internship or co-op will also be considered.
Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations; experience working with governmental agencies overseeing environmental and safety regulations
Project management and/or experience with construction projects desired; experience budgeting and planning projects preferred
Ability to research best chemical plant practices in safety, health, and environmental areas for engineering and construction
Ability to read & create engineering, construction and other technical specs, drawings, schematics, plans, and similar documents; ability to read and understand complex government regulations and translate/incorporate these requirements into terminal construction, engineering and maintenance plans
Ability to translate such technical plans into easy-to-understand laymen’s terms and communicate such translations in clear terminology
Experience working with Federal, state and local environmental regulations including RCRA is a plus
Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written; listening skills; experience creating and delivering presentations
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, MS Project, various email and internet programs and applications
BS in Chemical Engineering degree or similar technical field
