In order to do this, our Learning Design & Development team creates simple, relevant, and effective learning experiences for our orange-blooded associates. We have a strong team of Instructional Designers who are focused on the goal of developing our associates, and we’re looking to add to the team.
That’s where you come in! This Associate Instructional Designer will help design, develop, and implement cutting-edge development programs that build competence and confidence in our associates. You will be part of a dynamic, collaborative team that creates learning solutions to build knowledge, skills, and abilities.

You are passionate about development and have a background with applying instructional design and adult learning principles to help create instructional courses, assessments, job aids, and other learning deliverables.
You look for opportunities to use innovative approaches to develop people.
You have basic experience with creating deliverables for all phases of the course creation lifecycle, including analysis documents, design documents, storyboards, and final learning deliverables.
You are self-driven, collaborative, resourceful, and proficient at project management.
You are comfortable taking risks, communicating with a variety of audiences, being a trusted partner, and staying current on industry trends.
You have strong communication skills and you’re comfortable communicating through technology (Adobe Connect, Microsoft Teams, etc.)

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
50% - Partner with Instructional Designers to design and develop learning solutions. This role has an emphasis on scriptwriting, video production, and mobile content development.
20% - Collaborate with Learning Strategy Senior Managers and subject matter experts during the analysis phase and throughout the project.
10% - Work with standard development tools and software (Articulate Storyline, PowerPoint, etc.).
10% - Communicate with project team members and effectively manage projects.
10% - Work on creative and innovative ways to develop associates.

This position reports to Manager of Learning Design.
This position has 0 direct reports.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant condition
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 2 years
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, HR Development, Organizational Development, I/O Psychology, or related field preferred (or equivalent Home Depot experience)
Experience in education or learning field, or similar work experience
Experience creating training deliverables for retail organizations
Experience conducting learning needs analysis
Basic knowledge of eLearning development tools and software (i.e., Articulate Storyline, PowerPoint, etc.)
Ability to communicate professionally, provide proper context, and tailor messages to a variety of audiences
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Basic knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theories
Proficiency with software including Microsoft Office
Basic knowledge of standard eLearning development tools
Proficient knowledge of project management principles
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
