Maintains, preserves and protects the physical assets of the Colonnial Williamsburg Foundation;
Operates and maintains mechanical, electrical, boilers, chillers and plumbing systems in hotels and restaurant properties;
Performs routine service, repair and preventive maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment;
Responds to assigned trouble calls and assists other mechanics, electricians and plumbers as assigned;
Assists in training of less skilled employees;
Performs repair and maintenance of basic refrigeration systems and equipment;
Performs routine tests of equipment performance;
Performs other duties as assigned.
Final candidtes must possess a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver's license and have an acceptable driving record as measured against Colonial Williamsburg's criteria.
Final candidates are to present in person to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Hospitality Human Resource Office a valid driver's license and an original Motor Vehicle Record transcript (MVR). The MVR is to be no older than 30 days, issued by the same state as the driver’s license, and must cover the past seven years. New residents must obtain a Virginia driver’s license within 30 days.
Annual checks are required thereafter.
Final candidates must satisfactorily complete Drug testing, Respirator Fit and Pulmonary Function Testing.
12th grade education with diploma or equivalent plus 4 years experience in mechanical/electrical/plumbing work;
Proficient in (1) identify, test, diagnose and repair electrical motors, pumps, appliances, and associated electrical circuitry for the broad range of equipment used in central plants, hotels and restaurants; (2) identify, test, diagnose, adjust and repair a broad range of mechanical equipment including such items as boilers and chillers, kitchen equipment, production equipment, DDC/pneumatic controls for air handling systems used in hotels and restaurants; (3) identify, test, diagnose such items as low and high pressure controls, condensing units, compressors and associated equipment used in central plants, hotels and restaurants; (4) plumbing repairs and operate drain cleaning equipment;
Ability to safely and efficiently work on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, steam or any other high energy system and (1) raise and climb ladders up to 35 feet; (2) lift and transport 75 pounds; (3) perform a variety of diverse physical tasks - bending, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, working at heights, and repetitive motions;
Ability and willingness to (1) work any and all other requested work assignments; (2) work any and all shifts; (3) respond positively to emergency recall to work; (4) work well with others in a team environment;
Internal Candidates must complete Journeyman Skills for Hotel Service Maintenance Department or Virginia State Journeyman Certification in Electrical/Mechanical, universal CFC license; Back-flow Prevention Certification, Respirator Fit and Pulmonary Function Testing.
