JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Operations for CERM will organize the company to meet its goals and objective as well as assist the Managing Director in ensuring the firm’s project management and general operations activities are properly managed across all divisions of the business locations and groups.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:
Provides leadership in the implementation of strategic marketing programs
Coordinate Corporate Business development activities requiring multi-office or multidiscipline activity

LEADERSHIP:
Leads staff development and training in the following ways: assist management in hiring, evaluation and training of Project Managers and Department Managers; Monitor performance of and assist Department Managers to ensure their personnel management responsibilities are consistent with firm's established policies and procedures
Chair Project Operations meetings; and serve as Director and Project Delivery
Serve as member of Management and Executive Committee as well as provide direction to both committees (members)

MANAGEMENT:
Assist management in establishing annual and long-range goals for Business Groups and general project delivery activities
Designs, implement and ensures policies, programs and procedures for firm's day-to-day activities in accordance with established project management, contracts management, human resources and general operations objectives are adhered to; monitor progress toward the achievement of those objectives

FINANCIAL:
Assist management in establishing and preparing annual financial budget for Business Groups and general project delivery activities
Assures that business plans are established and implemented for all regions and Business Groups
Ensures Risk Management & Loss Prevention procedures are established and implemented

COMPLIANCE

Maintain and improves quality control procedures as these relate to project delivery, project budgeting, manpower planning and deliverable schedule objectives.
Monitor performance of and assist Business Group Managers to ensure project results are consistent with firm's established policies, procedures and high standards
Coordinate scheduling of projects and manpower to ensure maximum utilization of staff and other firm resources
Establish procedures for accountability reporting and set the pattern for internal relationships to be observed by firm members
Review and approve time and expense reports of Business Group Managers

PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports contract management function
Approves Project Plans in accordance with the authority matrix
Enforces Project Planning Standards
Enforces Safety Policy Standard
Provides oversight of earned value on all projects
Monitors Project delivery activities for scope expansion opportunities and Client Services
Enforce Project Close-Out and Profitability standard

CLIENT SERVICES RESPONSIBILITIES:
Aligns Proposals/Cost Transmittals whereas CERM is Prime Consultant in accordance with CERM Authority Matrix
Share responsibility of reviewing Client Contract terms with CERM Corporate Management function.
Validates whether client is in good standing with CERM Corporate Management function.
Represent firm to the public and enhance firm's image through personal leadership, membership in community and professional organizations and participation in community service
Participate on Marketing Committee and assist in efforts and activities determined appropriate
May serve as market champion to provide client development leadership on specific market pursuits to include attendance at industry specific events building the firm’s marketing standing.
Approves Go/No-Go on proposals in accordance with CERM Authority Matrix

CORPORATE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drives and coordinates collections between Corporate Management, Business Group Manager, and Project Managers
Enforces Vehicle and Safety Policies
During the client prospect contract review process, work with Corporate Management to provides highlights pertinent contractual requirements for inclusion in project plan.
Provides Management oversight of Equipment Inventory Standard
Serves as Office Manager/Lead for all Project Management, Client Management, and Technical Management functions

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain and expand management and professional capabilities through involvement in the field
Search of available documentation, membership and participation in related professional organizations
Pursuance of appropriate continuing education opportunities and professional writing and speaking

Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Experienced in managing personnel and resources to include demonstrated project and program management training and implementation of similar standards.
Record of administration leadership
Thorough expertise in engineering practice and strong understanding of all disciplines within firm
Experienced in managing business functions related to project delivery activities

Required Experience

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of fifteen (15) years in engineering, construction or related field
Demonstrated successful profit and loss leadership
10+ years in Senior management role
Project Management Certification preferred, but not required
Masters of Business Administration (MBA) preferred but not required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required
This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a professional office environment
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
