This newly created in-house legal position will serve as an integral part of a small in-house team. You will have direct contact with high-level corporate executives and also perform other corporate legal duties as necessary. This is a corporate position and reports directly to the General Counsel.

Draft, review, negotiate and revise various types of agreements, including:
Airport leases and subleases
Joint venture (LLC) agreements
Franchise and brand license agreements (national and local brands)
Design & construction contracts
Procurement contracts, including distribution, purchasing and supply agreements
Vendor (services) agreements, including HR-related agreements
Consulting and professional services agreements
Acquisition and sale agreements
Property agreements, including office leases and other leases
Information technology agreements
Work with and respond to the needs of internal and external stakeholders in the areas of Business Development, Operations, Procurement, HR, Information Technology, Marketing, Culinary and Design & Construction in an advisory, strategic and collaborative role
Propose various strategies to limit risk, and help internal business teams comply with terms and evaluate transactions from a legal and risk perspective
Develop a strong partnership with internal business teams
Work in a cost-effective manner with outside counsel, as necessary
Investigate and resolve or refer as appropriate disputes/complaints in accordance with contractual requirements
Maintain communication the performance of contract negotiations and other actions with all stakeholders in accordance with organizational protocols and standards
Maintain contract information for organizational purposes in accordance with organizational policy and procedures
Conduct legal research as required to provide guidance on contract compliance and legal/regulatory requirements
Conduct training for colleagues across departments as appropriate on contract issues, internal policies and procedures
Conduct due diligence on third parties
Use practice references appropriately
Assist with corporate filings and maintaining corporate books and records
Other duties commensurate with a small legal department

High degree of integrity
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited university, plus active membership in a State bar required
Virginia Bar membership or Virginia Corporate Counsel status a plus
2-4 years experience as a corporate transactional attorney in a law firm or in-house corporate law department required
Business-driven and business-savvy with the ability to dispense innovative and practical legal advice that balances business and legal risks
Experience with various types of commercial transactions, contracts or agreements desired
Demonstrable skill in negotiating and understanding contract provisions and risk allocation with excellent analytical abilities
Hands-on working experience with contract management software and database systems a plus
EOE/D/V/M/F
