Provides
exemplary patient care as the medical provider to the chronic pain management
patient within the clinic and surgery center settings. Utilizes the Pain Doctor comprehensive and
integrated approach to treating chronic pain patients, including conservative
treatment options, interventional procedures, and other modalities, to
ultimately provide patient care in line with our mission statement – “To
provide patients with world class care, the kind we would want for our own mom
or dad.”

This
position has no direct reports.

ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS

History and Physical Examination

Conducts patient interview and performs appropriate physical
exam to develop the patient’s plan of care
Orders/interprets diagnostic tests, such as imaging,
electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests
Provides education to patient regarding results of
diagnostic tests
Makes diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment
of the pain patient
Prescribes therapy and/or medication per practice’s
algorithms
Instructs and counsels patients about prescribed therapeutic
regimens, normal findings, emotional problems of daily living, and health
maintenance
Performs strength exams and/or medication refills for
procedure patients

Procedures

Performs appropriate complicated medical procedures
Evaluates and treats patients in a clinical setting with the
assistance of Medical Assistant and Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Performs therapeutic procedures-such as trigger point
injections

Administrative

Obtains, compiles, and records patient medical data,
including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination
utilizing the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant and Medical Assistant in a
timely fashion - Notes completion expected within 48 hours of office visit
Addresses messages regarding patient complications, and/or
medication refills and dictates such orders to Medical Assistant
Works telephone on-call hours per practice protocol

Leadership

Oversees Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant patient
care; and coordinates appropriate duties of non-licensed clinical staff
Participates in clinical education opportunities
Serves as preceptor to new hire providers

Compliance

Maintains licensing and prescribing duties by ensuring
renewals and required continued education
Practices in a safe and compliant manner, in accordance to
practice policies & protocols as well as your state/national regulatory
licensing guidelines

REQUIREMENTS

Education
& Experience, Knowledge/Understanding

Doctoral degree (MD/DO)

Current
unrestricted state medical licensure
