A fantastic opportunity is available for an R&D Senior Associate to join our Research & Development team.

Support the identification, external sourcing, development and qualification of superior fragrance product experiences in support of Aircare US market

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver innovation projects for Air Wick US brand in line with the defined Category Strategy in an efficient, cost effective & timely manner.
  • Become an expert in your field.
  • Identify new innovation opportunities which are consumer and business relevant.
  • Work in a cross functional environment. Liaison with appropriate development, supply chain & marketing team members to ensure appropriate planning & completion of all activities to for the assigned projects
  • Understanding of consumer needs and insights for Air Care, underpinning product development and delivery and resulting in exciting and relevant new ideas and opportunities appropriate for the assigned formats and the wider Air Care portfolio.
  • Support local ideation process to feed the Global pipeline (NPD/EPD/Claim & BDIs)
  • Develop local strategic partnerships (Suppliers, External labs, KOLs, Institutes, Outside Innovation)
  • Promote the use of Open Innovation/Partnerships and increase the amount of externally sourced technologies in the Airwick Pipeline
  • Build the external partnership network in the US/Americas region to provide broader exposure to new and relevant external innovation
  • Manage partnerships with external providers through formal legal agreements and informal communications
  • Provide the business with access to data, samples, and information from external parties to facilitate development
  • Technology transfer : In-country Factory Implementation of Global NPDs & EPDs
  • Understanding of consumer needs and insights for Air Care, underpinning product development and delivery and resulting in exciting and relevant new ideas and opportunities appropriate for the assigned formats and the wider Air Care portfolio.
  • Support local ideation process to feed the Global pipeline (NPD/EPD/Claim & BDIs)
  • Map local competition , include in the database and submit samples for benchmarking analysis
  • Supervise direct reports and temporary employees with responsibility for ensuring their development.
  • Educate key stakeholders (marketing, supply, etc.) on technology and product
Is this You?
  • Bachelors degree in relevant scientific discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years R&D experience with a proven track record of planning, prioritization and implementation of projects as well as identifying cost saving opportunities
  • Proven track record in delivering development projects from concept through to launch. Experience/expertise in technology development and desire to execute the same to a finished product as needed.
  • Technical expertise and curiosity with the ability to develop technologies across categories. Exceptional skills in experimental design and interpretation of results. Experienced in the practical applications of laboratory based technology development.
  • Ability to become the RB ‘expert’ in product implementation and launch areas as needed.
  • A bias for action. Extremely focussed to ensure that experimental programmes meet objectives. The ability to overcome obstacles by getting support from others and strong problem solving skills.
  • An excellent communicator coupled with proven analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • A desire to better understand the consumer to deliver new benefits through technologies.
  • Ability to rapidly understand requirements during practical implementation of innovation at a manufacturing set up is essential.
  • Experienced of working successfully with outside suppliers.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills essential
  • Proven experience working in multifunctional and multicultural global project teams
  • Proven track record in collaboration with R&D and non-R&D functions

• identification of possible relevant innovative technologies (outside innovation);

• mapping technologies to business and market needs;

• communication and implementation of technology strategy in the product development process

• recognising when to invest in technology development and when to withdraw to ensure constant value of the product to the consumer;

• guidance to production and operations management, project management, quality control, safety and health issues, statistics, and sourcing;

Project Management

Ability to achieve complex goals by finding and adapting the best possible methodology of planning, organizing, motivating, negotiating, communicating, controlling resources and procedures to ensure optimised cost, risk, quality and speed of delivery.

Consumer Science

Ability to identify consumer unmet needs, understand motivations and behaviours by effective selection and implementation of consumer research methods. Translation of insights into actionable product measures, enabling the R&D team to design products for maximum success on shelf and in home.
