The Managing Director of Programs and Impact (MDPI) manages the KIPP Through College (KTC) team and program. The MDPI supports student and alumni success through student recruitment, culture building activities, and other regional alignment work through schools. Additionally, we recognize the importance of continued investment in our understanding of how our identities shape our approach to this work. As such, the MDPI will lead and partner with schools and regional leaders to ensure that the work of equity is lived out in each department. The Managing Director of Programs and Impact serves on the regional senior leadership team and reports to the Chief Academic Officer.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
KIPP Through College
In collaboration the Chief Academic Officer, revise and implement the KTC strategic plan in a way that aligns with the region-wide vision and accomplished short-term and long-term goals
Lead and manage members of the KTC team and KTC team meetings
Manage the KTC budget and collaborate with the Director of Finance to ensure accurate financial reporting and responsible budget development
Manage KTC communications, events, and services focused on college readiness, college access, college persistence, college completion, and career readiness
Develop strategic partnerships with organizations that can help prepare alumni for success in high school college, including providing academic support, social support, summer opportunities, and employment opportunities
Manages student and college data and provide regular reports to key stakeholders
Ensures that KIPP Delta faculty and staff are aligned on their definition of college readiness and post-high school success by coaching KIPP Delta faculty and staff to provide an academically rigorous college preparatory academic experience in grades PK-12.
Works collaboratively with KIPP Delta high schools to provide a clear vision of college readiness, placement, and success so that high school leaders can backwards plan from our vision of college success.
Develops and manages college partnerships and other partnerships meant to improve the graduation rates of KIPP Delta alumni from college at rates that exceed the six year graduation rates for underrepresented students and with the intent of graduating KIPP Delta alumni at rates equal to their top quintile peers.
Advocates for increased college access, college support systems, and financial aid at institutions of higher education and at the state and national level by sharing the stories of alumni to make the case for additional funding and support.
Supervises and professionally develops the KTC team to ensure 95% of KIPP Delta students matriculate to college and 75% of students graduate from college
Oversees all regional college knowledge curriculum and college-going initiatives.
As appropriate and necessary, assists in mentoring alumni or providing high school, college, and financial aid advising.
Student & Alumni Programming
Provides oversight and support of KTC and school-based programming (class night, graduation, field lessons, etc.) and ensures staff are operating through a lens of equity
Creates and executes positive, culturally-relevant student-centered moments aligned with KIPP’s mission and values
Creates strategy and executes plan for school-based parent/guardian programming that uplifts families and provides needed resources
Develops a regional scope and sequence of celebrations to ensure students receive appropriate celebrations for effort, growth, and achievement on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Develop and lead a comprehensive DEI strategy that ensures organizational policies and practices are designed, implemented and evaluated using a strong equity lens
Define key metrics in partnership with regional and school leaders
Develop communication systems to share best practices, highlight bright spots, and keep staff apprised of key initiatives and activities.
Partner with regional leaders to align on equity vision and implementation within departments bring external stakeholders into the work
Stay abreast of research and best practice in DEI and infuse/adapt to KIPP Delta
Participates in KIPP Delta’s Regional Senior Leadership Team that sets and oversees the strategy for all KIPP Delta operations
Report out on and advise KIPP Delta leadership regarding progress within their management scope; spearheads opportunities to enhance work within their functional area
Partners with schools and regional leadership to support student recruitment, enrollment, and retention activities
