Northrop Grumman Technology Services has an opening for an NDI Tech Apprentice to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is an entry level position located in Lake Charles, LA. The selected candidate must be available to support all shifts including weekends. Travel may be required.
This entry level position is in partnership with SOWELA Technical Community College and the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LAWORKS) Apprenticeship Division. Candidates may be required to further apply for this position through these organizations.
Performs non-destructive tests (NDT) on aircraft engines or components. Inspects metallic and nonmetallic materials, parts and assemblies for defects using automated and manual methods and techniques including radiography, ultrasound, penetrant, eddy current, laser shearography, and magnetic particle. Requires certifications in non-destructive testing in accordance with regulations. Willling to attend/acquire all the necessary classroom training for PT, ET, UT, or RT (if not already completed). Should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
The ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance with ability to maintain
Must possess the ability to work in a team environment under the guidance of a mentor/mentors to learn the necessary techniques and processes for achieving high quality inspection results.
Must be comfortable in a factory environment and be able to collaborate closely with a multi discipline Engineering Team as well as Manufacturing and Inspection technicians to support day-to-day manufacturing activities.
Able to be subject to both external and internal environmental conditions
Ability to communicate over ambient noise level
Able to be subject to a variety of physical conditions
Able to be subject to a variety of atmospheric conditions
Able to wear respirator or other safety gear
Prior work experience in NDT/NDI
Understanding of Non-Destructive Inspection techniques and theories
Completed all Level I and II coursework for at least one of the following methods: ET, PT, UT or RT
Active DoD Secret clearance
