Banquet Captain

Here at the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center, we are currently seeking an experienced and energetic Banquet Captain.

The purpose of this position is to manage and direct the banquet operations, including service and set-up. This position will report to the Director of Banquets and will work closely with the Catering/Sales and Culinary departments to ensure the banquet operations can satisfactorily meet or exceed our guests’ expectations.

  • Act as direct liaison between guests and staff.
  • Ensure banquet rooms are set up according to contract.
  • Assist with banquet set-up and keep banquet areas clean and organized.
  • Assist Director of Banquets.
  • Assist in the training and counseling of servers and attendants.
  • Collaborate with Catering/Sales, Food & Beverage, and Culinary departments to ensure that quality service is provided for all guests.
  • Maintain all equipment and facilities in an organized, clean, and safe environment.
  • Maintain inventory of banquet supplies.
  • Attend required meetings.
  • Complete necessary paperwork as assigned.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor to include cross training.


  • TIPS Certified or must attend TIPS Certification within 2 weeks of hire
  • Requires basic computer literacy.
  • Read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other employees.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of position


  • At least 1 year banquet attendant/server experience required.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Project management skills preferred
  • Demonstrates knowledge of food preparation, basic bar terminology, and wine service
