Medical Coding Supervisor (RHIT or RHIA Required)
The Health Information Management (HIM) Coding Supervisor will support DaVita HIM Coding operations. This position assists in developing or revising procedures to achieve maximum efficiency with the coding process, mentors new and/or existing staff to achieve maximum autonomy and professional knowledge, and provides problem resolution for internal and external partners.The position has full supervisory responsibility and/or input into decisions concerning the recruitment, training, professional development, performance management, and retention of direct reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervisor coding teammates to ensure appropriate ICD-10 codes are assigned accurately
Collaborate with Manager, as necessary, to ensure that HCPCS/CPT/Revenue codes are appropriate and current based on Medicare and payor-specific requirements
Assist with preparation and delivery of Monthly Management Reports
Monitor monthly Quality Assurance audits for Health Information Coding Specialists
Perform Monthly SOX Audits
Assist with Monthly SOX remediation processes as needed
Identify, investigate, and evaluate practices and processes to facilitate clinical documentation improvement for coding practices of the medical record.
Function as SME (Subject Matter Expert) in medical records documentation review and release of information (ROI)
Participate in and lead approved projects as assigned
Work closely with Compliance department in ensuring coding guidelines are followed.
Assist or participate in focused coding reviews as required
Work with department management to develop processes that identify opportunities for clinical documentation improvement and to implement improvements in clinical documentation
Attend continuing education programs and demonstrate self-direction in ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge
Other duties as assigned
Specialized Experience, Education, Training, or Qualifications

Demonstrate mastery of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, ICD-9-CM/ICD-10, and CPT coding including Official Coding Guidelines required.

Demonstrated understanding of Federal, State and ESRD Network regulations related to medical record documentation required.
RHIA or RHIT required
