Who we’re looking for
Corporate Strategy and Planning’s (CS&P) Business Insights group is looking for a highly motivated Scenario Planning Senior Analyst to lead business impact scenario planning activities.
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide business scenarios as strategic inputs for key business decisions. A secondary responsibility will be to integrate into/support team projects focused on Future Mobility, in terms of new activities and impacts on the industry and competitive environment. Additional responsibilities may include engaging in core Business Insights projects and ad-hoc, quick-response reports may be required.
Reporting to the Business Environment Manager, the person in this role will support the CS&P department's objective to solve major business challenges, create value, facilitate transformative growth and monitor business performance for Toyota.
This role will lead scenario planning and other activities in collaboration with enterprise team members to ensure data, scenarios, insights, financial frameworks and future trends are developed to support business plans, five and ten –year plans, and business decisions.
What you’ll be doing
1. Leading scenario planning activities for Toyota enterprise business:
Design, lead and facilitate scenario planning work at Toyota, acting as the lead subject matter expert (SME) for Scenario Planning within CS&P and the enterprise
Use modeling, business scenario methodologies, and future trends to create actionable and accurate insights
Identify key indicators and develop tracking systems or frameworks (Strategic Early Warning systems or SEWS) to monitor changes and support forecasting & strategic planning
Advise on current market trends that impact the business to competitively define development and expansion goals
2. Promoting scenario planning throughout Toyota:
Consult with TMNA functional teams, integrating insights from Corporate Strategy and Planning into their planning (forecasting)
Collaborate with stakeholders such as but not limited to: TMC (Toyota Motor Corporation) and global affiliates, TFS, Product Planning, Marketing, and Sales, on their scenario planning work, and related future projects, with the goal of improving communications, sharing best practices, aligning work and creating more accurate scenarios
Teach team members, individually and/or workshops, how to apply scenarios and SEWS to support their planning work, both qualitatively and quantitatively
Develop and grow internal network of relevant stakeholders, as well as external network of consultants/experts/resources
Participate in and contribute to cross organizational work, as a resource for scenario based forecasting and strategic planning
Manage and grow relationships with key planning execs, consultants, and vendors
3. Applying scenario planning practices to core CS&P products:
Develop concrete case studies and business cases to illustrate scenario planning benefits
Responsible for ensuring that the company is on the leading edge for scenario planning methodologies and advocate benefits of adoption
Design and facilitate client tailored scenario planning workshops involving all levels of the organization
Support Internal Trend Tracking programs, as scenario planning expert
Study scenario planning best practices, and integrate ideas to support planning innovation
4. Supporting team projects in future of mobility work, ad-hoc studies, and flexibly support Business Insights core products:
Support ad hoc requests, including executive presentations
Flexibility - in terms of supporting team’s work related to future of mobility and contributing to work projects as needed
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree or higher, with experience in business strategy, planning, or related field
Extensive knowledge of scenario planning techniques and proven track record of utilizing scenario planning in business planning.
Demonstrated ability to distill disparate future possibilities/ abstract information into clear insights and business implications
Experience advising leadership on how scenarios may impact their business environments and eliciting strategic responses to scenarios from business leaders.
Attention to detail, resourcefulness, and time management skills required to effectively design and prepare executive-level presentation materials
Ability to ask, listen, and synthesize viewpoints of different stakeholders into strategic options for growth
Innovative, creative, and strategic thinker
Use of Qualitative and Quantitative methodologies (e.g. regression / statistical analysis, interviews and focus groups)
Workshop facilitation skills including time management, materials / poster production, and ability to flex / amend activities as needed given workshop dynamics
Excellent communication skills, writing and presenting
Willingness and ability to travel 10% of the time
Added bonus if you have
MBA (preferred) or other relevant advanced degree
Extensive knowledge of Toyota and the automotive industry
Experience in training or facilitating workshops
Experience with demand or financial analysis modeling
