Design Release Engineer– Transmissions

Lead the Design, Development, Validation and Release activities for Transmission Systems, Sub-Systems and Components
Manage Design changes to meet program timing
Provide cross-functional evaluation of alternatives to meet requirements
Lead system and sub-system design reviews
Keep a project book (including timing, changes, cost information, part availability, mass, timing, interface documents, Bill of Material (BOM), re-use potential)
Ensure designs comply with Best Common Practices
Ensure on time prototype material and build activities
Follow-Up on timing and part availability
Perform root cause analysis on components
Lead cost and warranty reduction efforts
Support activities at powertrain and vehicle assembly plant sites
Contribute to Bills Of Design and Bills Of Materials
Work cross functionally with Suppliers, Purchasing, Supplier Quality, Vehicle Teams
Use common Powertrain systems and processes
Communicate information to and from internal and external customer organizations
Travel as required (domestic & international)

Required Qualifications:
BS in Mechanical Engineering (or Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering)
High level of oral and written communication skills
Minimum two years of experience in at least one of the following:
  • Demonstrated technical and professional experience in one of the following, Transmission (Automatic, Manual, DCT, CVT) systems, structures, sealing, pumps, heat exchangers,
park systems, gears, shafts, bushings, bearings, clutch systems, hydraulic controls, electronic controls, torque converters.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading projects with on time completion, solving complex technical problems, working in cross functional teams, working effectively with others.
  • Previous experiences as a Design Release Engineer
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Previous automotive related industry experience
Master’s Degree in Engineering
DFSS Certification
