The Art Director is responsible for all creative output of the marketing department including, but not limited to, graphic design, web design, interactive and video elements and presentations. The position manages creative services team members, serves as art director, and actively contributes as a principal graphic designer.
Key Responsibilities - To simplify complexities for each customer
Utilize the latest graphic design software, core knowledge of design concepts and best practices to direct, develop and design best-in-class creative in a variety of mediums for placement in multiple channels that meet company brand standards and project objectives. Demonstrate the value of each campaign through analytics and use these insights to make recommendations and improvements; communicate with marketing stakeholders.
Engage directly with the AVP, Marketing and Director, MarComm to understand, brainstorm, develop and produce marketing campaign concepts for advertising, sales engagements, marketing collateral, educational materials, tradeshows and other communication vehicles.
Develop a deep understanding of the company’s brand, product and services, mission, value and key differentiators in order to visually convey our message to various audiences including claims adjusters, insurance payers and key executives, injured worker patients and medical professionals.
Directly manage a team of creative services employees and outsourced resources including, but not limited to graphic designers, web developers, video production and animation, interactive developers. Support internal and external clients.
Follow established processes and procedures within the marketing department and develop and improve upon processes within creative services group including workflow between team members and approvals with Art Director, MarComm Director and AVP, Marketing. Foster collaboration and teamwork amongst creative services and within marketing department.
Oversee and manage entire production process including approvals, preflight, prepress and press production. Actively manage vendor network and follow vendor checklist and scoring process. Follow entire project from concept through production with a sense of true ownership. Champion the resources needed including skills, people and time. Communicate to marketing stakeholders.
Always maintain a cutting edge perspective on marketing and design trends, new technologies and new methods; share knowledge and collaborate; expand skill set and foster the expanded skill sets of creative services; possess a strong desire to learn and grow and foster that in others.
Directly supervises 1-3 employees. Manages and allocates employee resources in accordance with company policies, applicable laws and company initiatives/goals. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work (including scheduling); appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Acts as a change agent, and develops a high-performing team in the spirit of exceptional service to all internal and external partners.
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and five to ten years of B-to-B marketing and/or graphic design experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Art Director experience a plus but not a requirement. Strongly prefer two to five years’ experience in workers’ compensation, insurance, medical management, technology or similar B-to-B industries. Must demonstrate the ability to lead a team of creative services professionals.

Duties are performed primarily in an office setting. Travel to attend meetings and visit locations throughout the country may be required. Operate computer and standard office equipment such as telephone, copier, and printer. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
