Position Summary

Packaging Leads are packaging equipment experts in their assigned area, and are highly functional in multiple areas. Packaging Leads must work safely at all times. They will ensure efficiency, product quality and drive continuous improvement. Packaging Leads function as a member of Packaging Team, which is directly responsible for the efficient production of quality packaged beer in the required quantities and time. They operate and changeover specified machinery in their assigned area in the prescribed amount of time. Packaging Leads are responsible for the Packaging Assistants and must have the skill set to perform the tasks of Packaging Line Assistants in the area as needed. This job requires strong communication, interpersonal and team building skills to support department goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the basic/routine running of the kegging, bottling, and canning line fillers, cleaning equipment and perform in accordance with all routine SOPs and specifications.
  • Keeping the lines running, e.g. keeps bottle filler/labeler in production and oversees the assistants in box shop.
  • Loading of packaging material, clearing jams, resetting faults.
  • Basic changeovers.
  • Perform quality checks and escalate deviations from expected results.
  • Maintaining area GMP’s.
  • Complete basic preventative maintenance (e.g. lubrication, observation, etc.) and enter corrective work order requests into eMaint (CMMS).
  • Conformance to all area LOTO and safety procedures, including wearing of PPE and reporting any safety hazards.
  • Report safety incidents immediately to the shift supervisor or designate.

Physical Requirements

Candidate should be able to lift at least 30lbs from ground level and should also be able to move 165lbs. of kegged beer from one location to another. Candidate should be physically capable of standing for long periods of time and able to kneel, stoop, crouch or crawl.
