Administrative Director Finance-18524
Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all Corporate Financial functions including internal and external financial reporting for all entities within the System, Treasury, Tax, General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Financial Analytics, Property Management, and Foundation Accounting. Establishes and maintains an accounting system to meet the Health System's needs and ensure integrity of financial statements, internal/external audits, tax returns, and treasury functions. Responsibilities include assembling the talent, supervising, and coordinating efforts of the Finance/Accounting staff in financial analysis and recording of financial transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of transactions in accordance with GAAP and for stewardship of resources. Contributes to major processes such as budgets, forecasts, revenue recognition, business planning, and capital planning. Effectively represent NCHS position in situations with multiple disciplines and viewpoints. Responsible for the talent and culture of the Finance and Accounting team, promoting collaboration, and transparency.
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
More than 10 years progressive experience in the healthcare Finance/Accounting
Experience in all aspects of accounting, financial management and all financial functions with a proven work record, especially within a hospital or health system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the development, implementation, and adherence to financial policies and procedures. Develops and represents P&L forecasts through preliminary operating and operating forecast processes.
Develops and oversees multiple department budgets to meet corporate goals and objectives; meets annual budgetary goals.
Translates organizational plans, goals, and initiatives into assumptions for annual operating and/or capital budgets. Works with budget team for production of accurate budgets.
Directs the accounting staff in preparation of financial statements for NCHS. Supervise and provide journal entries for the monthly and annual general close process including production of financial statements in a timely manner while ensuring adherence to GAAP and Health System Policies. Prepares custom reports to support the decision making activities of management.
Responsible for the General Ledger and Subsidiary Systems feeding into the GL. Provides written summaries of financial results including board level presentations, along with explanation regarding significant transactions and budget to actual variances.
Oversees and coordinates fixed asset accounting.
Oversees maintenance of property ledgers which include original purchase cost, useful lives, and depreciation for book and tax purposes, transfers, disposals, and facility renovations.
Maintain Health System balances and ensure transactions are accurate and timely.
Works closely with materials management department to assure proper authorization for payment and other related issues are addressed and solved.
Provides leadership and expertise in the development, implementation, oversight, and evaluation of business plan development and review for the system.
Masters or MBA preferred.
CPA, CHFP, or FHFMA certifications preferred.
Knowledge Lean/Six Sigma preferred.
In depth knowledge of hospital Finance and Accounting.
Demonstrated leadership working with financial and clinical departments collaboratively in a complex environment.
Ability to develop strong and collaborative relationships.
Excellent speaking and writing communication, organization and interpersonal skills, as well as, aptitude for conflict resolution, problem-solving, staff development, and team building.
Knowledge and understand hospital financials, reports, and tools.
Possess analytical and problem solving skills.
Problem solving skills to approach new regulations/situations with an imaginative, innovative, and analytical skill.
