This Assistant General Counsel position will report directly to the Vice President & Group Counsel and will negotiate, document and provide strategic direction and leadership on sophisticated, complex enterprise deals, as well as legal support on matters arising in day-to-day operations. The position will interact directly and frequently with business leaders. The successful candidate will have the ability to build strong relationships, trust and share knowledge openly to effectively collaborate with business, other in-house attorneys and various stakeholders within the company.
All work will require a "business" as well as a "legal" approach, requiring competencies in negotiation, structuring deals, validation of terms against commercial and industry norms, project management, and team leading that is broader than documenting the legal terms of an already agreed upon deal. The successful candidate will demonstrate capabilities in anticipating legal issues, accepting and effectively resolving sensitive topics and handling difficult situations diplomatically.
The successful candidate will also be willing to take on department projects and initiatives designed to improve legal service delivery within the enterprise.
Experience handling customer facing transactions and supporting multiple internal sales clients.
Experience handling transactions in the data, analytics, professional services, technology or financial services industries preferred, but not required.
Demonstrated business counseling, communications, conflict management and negotiation skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced, demanding environment.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment while working autonomously.
Law degree from ABA accredited law school and membership in good standing of any state bar; State Bar of Georgia is preferred.
Minimum of six years of relevant experience, some as an in-house commercial attorney preferred.
