Responsibilities
- Assign appropriate medical codes to diagnoses and procedures
- Review patient records for accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines
- Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and legal team regarding inquiries and disputes
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA
- Stay updated on coding guidelines and regulations
Skills
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential required
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
- Experience with medical billing and collections
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding
- Knowledge of electronic health records software and skill in all Microsoft Office programs
