TRD is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for the Gas Exchange and Valvetrain Group.
As a member of the engine design team, you will be responsible for continually improving the performance and durability of top-tier NASCAR engines through successful implementation of new designs pertaining to the top end of the engine. A solid foundation in design complimented with calculation / simulation capabilities, you will develop components in a fast-paced, energetic, and team centered environment.
This position is located in Costa Mesa, CA and is available hybrid remote work.
Key Responsibilities:

Design activities will include general layout and conception, integration of feedback from the team, supporting calculations, detailed solid and/or surface modeling, assembly and BOM creation, detailed working drawings, and documentation of design / calculations / process.

Calculation expectations include: Supporting hand calculations, tolerance stack ups.

Ability to grow to include Simulations as part of the design process and creating calculation tools and/or post processing data using scripting languages.

Good use of discretion for when hand calculations, idealizations, and/or detailed simulations are needed.

Working closely with other departments, with a team mindset, including in-house manufacturing, quality control, build shop, and development engineers to ensure parts are tested correctly and accurately in accordance with demanding time schedules.
Required:

BS in Mechanical Engineering or relative work experience.
-
Highly motivated, with a strong interest in engines or motorsports.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.
-
High attention to detail.

Design experience using CAD software: Creo (preferred), Catia, NX, Solidworks, etc.

Experience with GD&T e.g. ASME Y14.5
-
Practical IC engine knowledge as well as a solid theoretical background.

Hands-on experience including fabrication techniques and general mechanics is also highly desirable.

Several years of experience in a similar position

Advanced education, e.g. Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering

Surface modeling experience

FEA experience: Abaqus (preferred), Hyperworks, Ansys, Nastran, etc.

CFD experience: Star-CCM+, Ansys, Converge, etc.

Scripting languages: Matlab, Visual Basic, Python, Javascript, C++

The expected base pay range for this position is $91,280 - $148,330 per year.
