What is the opportunity?

Contribute positively to RBC’s external image in the U.S., with a particular focus on the U.S. Corporate & Investment Banking businesses.
Provide strategic communications counsel to the Co-Heads of U.S. Investment Banking, U.S. Head of Corporate Banking and RBC Capital Markets investment and corporate bankers in the U.S.
Partner with global colleagues to deliver on an effective global communications strategy.
Contribute meaningfully to RBC’s high performing culture, and its purpose and values.

What will you do?

Create, develop and execute strategic internal and external communications plans for RBC Capital Markets, focused on but not limited to the firm’s U.S. Corporate & Investment Banking businesses, serving as a strategic advisor to senior leadership and aligning with business goals.
Continuously increase RBC Capital Markets’ footprint in target top-tier, trade, digital, social and broadcast media outlets, maintaining and developing relevant media relationships.
Partner with global and functional partners to ensure that positive media coverage is maximized across RBC channels and internal communications content is effectively leveraged and is consistent
Mitigate issues as they relate to our Investment Banking platform by developing communications strategies and statements (personnel, regulatory).
In partnership with Marketing, build the digital and social presences of key investment banking leaders.
Contribute meaningfully to our social media channels by leveraging Investment Banking content and media clips.
In partnership with CM Research Communicator, drive the communications effort (media and internal) surrounding our key U.S. industry conferences.
Primary contact for U.S. PR agency and media cuttings agency.
Run point on U.S. Corporate & Investment Banking internal communications and announcements.
Contribute to the success of the overall goals of the Brand, Communications and Citizenship group.

What do you need to succeed?


5+ years of relevant corporate communications experience at a PR firm or financial services/professional services firm
Media relations experience with top tier publications
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage large personalities
Outstanding writing skills
Ability to work long hours, operate under intense pressure, and rapidly respond to urgent media inquiries/deadlines
