Position Overview:

Orients and educates patients and their families by meeting them; explaining the role of the patient care coordinator; initiating the care plan; providing educational information in conjunction with direct care providers related to treatments, procedures, medications, and continuing care requirements.

Competencies / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Answer and address incoming patient clinical calls

· Type up phone notes and route to providers regarding patient concerns

· Place phone calls to the patients regarding answers to concerns

· Update providers in EPATH

· Update problem list for patient chart in EMR

· Call and inform patient of pathology results

· Schedule patients for surgeries (MOHS, excision, etc.)

· Mail patient appointment information packets

· Retrieve patient information from PCP or specialists office

· Obtain from affiliated labs patient results on cultures, biopsies, etc.

· Fax reports per request of outside providers

· In pathology assistants absence, confirming accuracy of reports, route pathology reports to providers & compose letters for benign results

· Help with the PA/ RX bucket in their absence, help answer calls

· Check patient portal messages, route to provider accordingly

· Have faxed over results scanned into patients chart

  • Complete Administrative Proficiency (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Web-based applications, email, HRIS systems)
  • THIS POSITION REQUIRES WORK TO BE PERFORMED AT MULTIPLE LOCATIONS / EMPLOYEE MUST BE ABLE TO WORK/COMMUTE TO ALL SITES.

Education / Experience:

Required:

1. Associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related area if not a registered nurse

2. 1 Year Medical Office Experience / Reception / CMA Experience

3. 2 Years Administrative experience

4. 2 Years Customer Service

5. Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business or related field
