Infraredx is seeking a full-time intern to join their team for the spring semester, December/January - May 2020.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design of disposable and/or electro-mechanical components, subassemblies and tooling with guidance from engineers
  • Perform and/or coordinate engineering testing and experiments with attention to detail
  • Generate design documentation including detailed part and assembly drawings, manufacturing procedures, test methods, part specifications and lab notebook studies
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Communicating any test results and data analysis concisely and in a timely manner
  • Design and implement test methods and fixturing for both R&D and manufacturing
  • Updates and improvements to manufacturing procedures or software
  • Manage engineering change documentation; from redline mark-ups to signoff of document change
  • Support catheter and hardware development and design validation of next generation products

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to push tasks to completion; applicant must work well with strong initial guidance and prioritization but minimal daily oversight
  • Proven ability to perform high quality experiments
  • Solidworks CAD experience is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of LabVIEW is a plus
  • Knowledge of MATLAB is a plus
  • Knowledge of medical device design and documentation is preferred
  • Knowledge of fiber optics is a plus
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary group required. Communication across disciplines (electrical, optical, software, systems) is required.

Education/Experience:

  • Progress towards a degree in the Engineering Field
  • Degree Preference: Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering
  • Prior internship or co-op opportunities within the medical device field is desired but not a requirement
