Nuverra Environmental Solutions HSE Representative is a leader and subject matter expert for all health and safety matters. This is a non-supervisory position reporting directly to the HSE Manager, with a secondary relationship to the Operations Manager(s). This position communicates coordinates and assists in the support, implementation and enforcement of all elements of the HSE Management System (HSE MS) including programs, policies standards and procedures to help the Company reduce loss improve HSE performance and achieve its HSE goals and objectives. Responsible for safety training, regular inspections and assessments of company work areas, investigation of accidents/incidents, development and implementation of health and safety plans and assisting operational management with new hire selection and new hire training in a productive and safe manner.

Operational Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Remain current and knowledgeable of relevant HSE and DOT regulations and promote and support HSE initiatives, policies, requirements, etc.
Conducts Company Safety meetings and assigned training's such as daily Tailgate Meetings, Weekly Target Zero Training, and Monthly Safety Meetings to cover topics such as health and safety plans, new rules and safe work practices with on-site staff and field level employees.
Document all training given with printed names and signatures of employees who attend on a roster and maintain documentation in the applicable training management system.
Follow up with employees who did not attend training and the responsible manager to develop an action plan.
Maintain relationships and interact with supervision, management representatives, customers, HSE Department, training staff, neighbors, and government regulators, in a professional, honest and consistent manner at all times
Attend all customer required training's and meetings.
Follow guidelines and policies set forth by the Area Manager and its customers
Support, implement and enforce the HSE MS and associated HSE programs in the field
Provide HSE support to operations through various means (emergency preparedness, audit support, conducting observations, job site inspections and risk assessments, assisting with incident reporting, performing incident investigations and root cause analysis, tracking corrective actions, coordinating training and safety meetings, tracking relevant leading and lagging indicators, HSE metrics, etc., to drive continuous improvement)
Exemplify HSE leadership in all aspects of daily operations and set the example for others by following HSE policies and procedures, coaching and mentoring others regarding HSE programs
Perform regular inspections of company work areas, trucks and equipment. Documentation of inspections should note safety violations, concerns and unsafe conditions.
Regular inspections, at minimum weekly, will be made of all DOT required paperwork. All discrepancies, incomplete reports or violations will be brought to the Yard Manager and Safety Manager’s attention.
Spot inspections will be made on equipment after a DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report) is completed by the driver to test for accuracy and to continue training, if necessary.
Immediately respond to and investigate all accidents as soon as possible after any accident or near miss and provide onsite support as needed.
Investigate HSE related incidents, analyze findings, recommend corrective actions and follow-up to completion. Documentation should include operator/driver’s statement, witness statements, drawings, photographs, incident reports, investigation documents and recommendations to eliminate a recurrence. This position is responsible assisting with set up of drug and alcohol testing after every accident or incident resulting in significant loss, as determined by operational and HSE leadership.
Provide number of accidents and lost time injuries for location to Safety Manager according to federal, state and local regulations.
Keep documentation of safety data sheets and training records.
Responsible for development and implementation of company health and safety plan. (site specific; for example water hauling, disposal operations, etc.)
Develop a safety program with specific training for the assigned yard and the requirements of the customers in the area.
Schedules orientation (safety training, necessary HR paperwork, customer requirements, etc.) of new hires and completes all necessary paperwork before the new employee is placed into a safety sensitive position at the company.
Assist operational management with assignment of a mentor to the new employee to assist with in-the-field training (training modules, all aspects on how to operate the equipment).
Review SSE program documentation and assist operational management with oversight of the SSE program to include, discussions with new employees and mentors regarding timely completion and content of performance evaluations.
Set up all safety training (H2S, Safeland, Hazmat awareness, first aid, Respirator fit test, etc.) that is required, to be completed, or at least scheduled, in the first two weeks.
Assist with the development of policies, programs and procedures as needed
Perform job tasks correctly with efficiency to ensure profitability and operational excellence.
Present ongoing HSE related materials, ideas, programs and processes to management representatives, employees and customer representatives as required.
Organize and verify new hire DOT paperwork is completed correctly. Give to HR and DOT teams for submission.
Record, document and file necessary paperwork related to HSE processes.
Schedule appointments and teleconferences, and handle changes or delays
Review existing processes and develop improvements/solutions
Assist with confidential paperwork and sensitive issues
Professionally receives incoming calls from clients and employees
Professionally conducts outgoing calls to clients informing them of issues and updates periodically as needed
Responds quickly to customer/client and company needs on a daily basis
Provide assistance and support to supervision and management encouraging their success as HSE leaders
Follows all safety policies and procedures, participates in all required safety training and meetings
Must be able to work LONG hours.

Company, Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) and Department of Transportation (DOT) Rules & Regulations:
When traveling on company time, comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT), Health Safety & Environmental (HSE), and Company regulations and safely meet qualifications as applicable.
Properly wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when visiting Disposal sites or onsite customer meetings.
Works independently with minimal supervision
The ideal candidate will have 2 to 4 years of experience in a safety position and have a strong working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and Environmental regulations applicable to the oil and gas industry.
Previous HSE, logistics, military, or other experience related to oil and gas, industrial or commercial work required
Preference given to applicants with 5 years of HSE related experience in the oil and gas industry
Must pass pre-employment drug testing and random drug testing.
Must be able to pass company provided physical.
