At Aurora Health Care the Food Service Assistant I is responsible for preparing, arranging, garnishing, and serving quality food in a timely manner to patients, staff, and visitors. They deliver patient trays, nourishment feedings, and specialty meals to patient rooms and delivers stock to units. They perform other sanitation functions including maintaining refrigeration spaces and dish room duties as directed.
Assembling patient and mobile meal trays/meals in accordance with approved diet guidelines and portions while adhering to productivity standards.
Loading and transporting food carts. Delivering patient meal trays to patient rooms in accordance with established procedures.
Providing initial service to visitors in the cafeteria by serving food and maintaining the cleanliness of the cafeteria.
Performing cleaning duties using established sanitation procedures in the kitchen and cafeteria.
Washing pots, pans, and dishes according to established procedures.
Preparing snacks, beverages, sandwiches and other patient food items in accordance with approved diet guidelines and portions while adhering to productivity standards.
Delivering and stocking all nursing units, doctors' lounges, same day surgery and emergency rooms, following established procedures while adhering to productivity standards.
Replenishing food service areas to include supply of dishes, foods, beverages, condiments, and other established supplies.
Monitoring food temperatures and utilizing established procedures to insure safe food handling techniques and prevent bacteria contamination.
What it Will Take:
Advanced knowledge in food service from within a hospital, hotel, restaurant or a related environment.
Incumbent will also be required to be available for weekend and holiday assignments.
Ability to read and understand written and oral communications.
Good communication and customer service skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
Varied days and hours. Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation.
