Job Description

The I&E Technician will perform electrical and instrument work which includes, but not limited to, repairing motors, starters, generators and exciters. Tests and repairs switchboards and installs new cables, wiring and electrical fixtures. Inspects electrical equipment at frequent intervals. Calibrates, maintains and repairs analog and digital equipment data acquisition units, and pneumatic and hydraulic control and indicating devices. Analyzes performance of equipment and participates in the automation of facilities. Install non-contract addition, replacements, inspects contract installed equipment.

Principal Duties

  • Participates in installing all instruments and electrical components safely
  • Troubleshoots problems with control systems
  • Runs conduit, pulls wire and changes motors and maintains basic motor controls
  • May maintain/troubleshoot Distributive Control Systems (DCS) and or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
  • Is able to read P&ID and electrical diagrams and other complex drawings
  • Installs, troubleshoots and maintains end devices, alarms, shutdown systems and process controls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required
  • Journeyman electrical designation is highly preferred
  • 5+ years of electrical and instrumentation experience is preferred
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of electrical codes and is familiar with AC voltage (120v-4160v) three phase and single phase plus 120VDC
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Must possess a strong commitment to job safety
  • Basic computer skills
  • Candidate will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing
  • Candidate must be able to work under limited supervision
