To perform secretarial and clerical duties of a highly responsible and confidential nature; work cooperatively with the Department Administrators and Supervisors to maintain maximum efficiency in the operation of the office.


  • Access to and involvement in the processing of information relating to employer/employee relations
  • Perform secretarial and clerical duties
  • Prepare material for Governing Board meetings
  • Type records, letters, notices, bulletins and reports
  • Answer correspondence independently
  • Collect, research and compile data
  • Answer telephone and respond to inquiries using initiative and independent judgment
  • Maintain files including confidential material
  • Maintain appointment calendar
  • Take and transcribe official minutes
  • Maintain high degree of confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Prepare personnel files for implementation and maintenance of electronic filing system


Credential and/or license:

Not applicable.


Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, preferably including or supplemented by secretarial courses.


Four years of increasingly responsible experience in administrative secretarial work, preferably including some experience in a school district.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures
  • Write with appropriate spelling and grammar conventions
  • Do keyboarding, software applications (spreadsheets, presentations, etc.) and communication through technology
  • Ability to effectively communicate with general public
  • Work harmoniously with other office personnel
  • Prepare reports and draft letters
  • Work under pressure of deadlines and interruptions during high volume periods
  • Maintain accurate and complete records
  • Operate standard office equipment
  • Perform secretarial work with speed and accuracy
  • Work independently, assuming responsibility
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Use initiative and judgment in problem solving


Assistant Superintendent Human Resources

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District’s policies and procedures.
