Full Job Description
Do you love maps, tables, charts, and infographs? Are you passionate about providing data visualization content that will be shared all around the world? Do you have fun creating interesting visual experiences inside of maps and tables that bring data to life? If so, the role of Data Journalist is for you.
FreightWaves is seeking a data journalist who can tell stories based on data, who can transform tables into storytelling and who isn't scared of poking around inside a database. A successful candidate will be able to dive deep into industry trends, financial reports and economics data and weave information together to create a compelling narrative.
In this role, you will be creating visual materials that will be added to our news site, FreightWaves.com or into our SONAR platform. As part of our role as a data journalist, you will be doing original research using fundamental data off the company’s SONAR platform, or data from an array of sources, including government and commercial databases. Developing maps, charts, tables, and visual data is a core function of this role.
You will be surrounded by a group of strategic thinkers in creating a new marketplace and should be comfortable with dynamic changes in role and processes. You will be building many of the operating insights that go into helping companies buy and sell transportation capacity in the form of financial contracts and to hedge against market volatility.
