Performs skilled carpenter/cabinet making, including the building and repairing of structures or their structural parts using wood and other building materials.
Does other relating work, as required.
Erects, maintains, and repairs various types of buildings, scaffolds, forms, frames, and other structures.
Makes cupboards, lockers, shelves, doors, and window frames.
Keeps tools, materials, and equipment in good condition.
Makes rough sketched and repairs work.
Advises in the selectin of building materials.
Requisitions and stores building materials and supplies.
Keeps simple records and makes reports.
Consults with other trade workers and may instruct and lead unskilled assistants.

Two years experience as a carpenter.
Knowledge of wood, tools, hardware, construction materials and methods.
The ability to read blueprints, estimate materials and labor cost desired.
Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
Possess knowledge of the building codes of the city of Chicago as they apply to carpentry.
Cabinet making experience a plus
