Technical Source has partnered with a client in the Triangle area who is in need of two cost analysts for a 12 month contract with right to hire permanent following the contract. THis individual will be responsible for construction projects with budgets of $50M - $100M as well as smaller construction design and process design projects.
The cost analysis will be part of the project(s) team and working primarily with the project manager but also interfacing with vendors, subconsultants and other project team members.
Responsibilities/Day To Day:
- Research, Analyze and Forecast project costs for mechanical, electric, equipment, construction, and other project related costs. Contracts are typically lump sum.
- Will have a PM allocated for each component who they will support for analysis and forecasting, but primary point of contact is the client PM who is responsible for the overall project. The PM will also need help with pulling data for the various components of the project.
- Look at all packages and what should be spent on these. Convey to the PM using an agile methodology
- Spec out all of the equipment
- Invoice processing, organization, serve as the project account administrator
- Manages all of the incoming invoices, verify for accuracy, attach to a project
- Focus on forecasting - that is the key to costing - what is in front and how much is that? Known, known/unknown and Unknown costs.
- Breaks the large program budget down to smaller cost components
- Gather and compile data and provide to the PM to make informed decisions - interface with everything compiling wants and needs and where they are going
Core Skill/Experience Requirements:
- 7-10 years as a cost analyst with experience on CAPEX $50M+ projects in greenfield construction. Experienced and willing to travel to the job site as needed for business meetings. Used to interacting with external clients, diverse project teams and vendors/subcontractors. Experience managing/forecasting the cost of equipment, resources/labor, trade partners and services in line with procurement.
- Strong Communication, time management and communication skills supporting diverse groups. Display and value true partnership with their PMs - free communication, share concerns and accountability together. Displays transparency, ownership and a client -first mentality. Be willing to sound the alarm rather than waiting if there is a critical issue in support of the project manager and the success of the project.
- Must be a doer. Must have high proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, V Look Ups, reporting)
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing greenfield construction projects and understand the landscape of forecasting cost in related projects
- Experience using Office D 365 (they use CR Vision currently and transitioning to D 365 at the end of August)
Occasional weekly travel is required. Must be in office Tues, Wed, Thurs each week.
