SCAD seeks an experienced project manager to oversee the publishing of innovative titles on subjects as varied as architecture, animation, fragrance, fashion, painting, and performing arts.
The SCAD creative direction department publishes these books and elegant artist monographs from the SCAD Museum of Art and SCAD FASH: Museum of Fashion + Film annually. In this position, you will collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders, including the SCAD executive director of creative services and publishing, authors, illustrators, professors, designers, and our production team to determine priorities, manage budgets and meet project milestones. You will work with the university’s legal department to develop contracts with contributors and prestige publishers, partner with the department’s creative coordinator to review research, inventory, vendor payments, royalties, and other project details.
You will send weekly updates on projects to internal stakeholders, ensuring a streamlined process and successful outcome that increases recognition for the university and our high-profile museum exhibitions. You will also have the opportunity to brainstorm future ideas for development.
The ideal candidate has a love of books and three years of project management experience, preferably at a publisher, book packager, media company, or other creative environment. You should be adept at creating processes and procedures for the newly formed SCAD University Press and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to create schedules, ensure milestones are met, secure approvals, and liaise with contributors.
