We are seeking a full-time Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Designer 1 at our world headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role, you will be responsible for creating moderately complex Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designs from schematics and input from Design Engineers. Other essential functions include:

Creates moderately complex printed circuit board layouts and documentation from schematics using Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools

Work closely with Product Design Engineers and Mechanical Engineers to produce moderately complex PCB Designs

Sets up data for basic high speed designs

Provides feedback to Design Engineers as needed to ensure manufacturability is maintained in each design

Suggests options when faced with challenging PCB Design situations including providing resolution to non-standard problems

Attends engineering design reviews and acts on decisions made there

May plan own technical work and can estimate completion times for PCB designs

Serve as a mentor to PCB Design Assistant as needed

Serves as a library parts checker

Demonstrates full understanding and use of Garmin design standards and procedures

Qualifications

Qualified candidates possess a Technical School Diploma OR a minimum of 2 years’ experience performing a substantially similar role and a minimum of 2 years related experience as a PCB Designer performing similar industry duties using CAD tools. Other requirements include:

Demonstrate proficient use and knowledge of eCAD tools

Must demonstrate an ability to read schematics

Must demonstrate a proficient working knowledge of PCB design “best practices” and design standards

Must demonstrate proficiency using personal computers and Microsoft Office applications

Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision

Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment

Previous experience with CADStar and Working knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes is highly preferred!
