Full Job Description
The Accounting Assistant performs a number of analysis, reconciliation and reporting functions which are essential to Finance Department and corporate operations. The individual in this role assists and is accountable to the Chief Financial Officer.
Performs payroll functions, including setup and maintenance of physical and electronic HR and payroll records, as well as weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing. In addition, makes payroll tax deposits and produces quarterly and annual reports.
Processes and submits benefits information to the appropriate insurance and retirement program organizations.
New employee orientation.
Daily ReStore sales deposits.
Prepare and submit Sales Tax Returns to the Department of Revenue for ReStore operations and satisfies store licensing requirements of the City, County and State.
Reconcile bank accounts.
Prepare Draw Requests along with supporting documentation for submission to funder as required. Monitor payment status and follow up with funder as necessary.
Prepare invoices for Aging in Place (AIP) for reimbursement.
Serve as primary internal POS system performance auditor.
Monitor and assist with control of Purchased Merchandise Inventory levels in ReStores.
Quarterly inventory for purchased ReStore items.
Request W/C and General Liability Insurance Certificate for Project files, Grantors and Special Events.
Prepares Grant Compliance reports whether on monthly, quarterly, annual or project basis.
Prepare various Business Tax and Informational Returns as directed.
Assists with the annual financial and workers compensation audits.
Assists the Chief Financial Officer with various tasks, projects and reporting as may be assigned from time to time.
Baccalaureate in Accounting, Finance or related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an accounting role as a staff accountant for a public accounting firm or lead accounting role in private industry.
Must be very computer literate and skilled in the use of accounting software such as Sage/Peachtree or QuickBooks, Excel and Word.
Must successfully complete a background and credit check.
Essential that candidate be able to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet all deadlines.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
Must have very good interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
