Environmental Strategy Consultants (ESC) has an outstanding opportunity for an Environmental Professional looking to expand their management experience. We are seeking a Managing Director to oversee the day-to-day operations of our company located in the heart of downtown Philadelphia. This is a new position created to build on our 30+ years of success.
This is a unique career option for an experienced environmental manager seeking a new leadership path and an opportunity to apply his / her business skills. While prior consulting experience is desired, we welcome entrepreneurial individuals from the industrial sector who want a career change from "being overhead" to driving profitability on the revenue side of business. The Managing Director will work with the CEO to set and meet the company’s financial goals.

This position will be responsible for leading the office and technical staff in client deliverables as well as expanding the client base and current client engagements through business development. The successful candidate will be a technical expert in an environmental compliance discipline such as Air Permitting.
The Managing Director’s responsibilities fall under three basic areas: day-to-day oversight of operations, project delivery to assure that Work Product meets ESC Standards, and business development activities:
Help drive the financial success of the company
Meet topline revenue goals
Maintenance of healthy Gross and Net Profits Margins (resource management: employees, equipment, subcontractors, etc.)
Lead and motivate an interdisciplinary team of managers, scientists, and technical specialists
Set goals and conduct performance reviews
Maintain staff billability levels
Determine gaps in talent
Post, interview and hire
Identify, On-board, integrate and develop
Direct Client Project Work
Project development, initiation, planning, execution and closeout
Project execution and control
Project closeout oversight
Candidates who meet the following requirements will be considered:
20-25 years in the environmental profession - progressive increase in responsibility
Experience expertise in Petro-Chemical, Petroleum Distribution, Energy, Utilities, Chemical, General Manufacturing, or Healthcare sectors
Some consulting experience preferred
7-10 years of proven leadership / managerial experience
Prior experience managing some level of P&L or financial responsibility
Prefer prior experience build company / office / region
Technical expertise in an environmental discipline and an established network in the industry
Chemical, Civil or Environmental Engineering
Air Permitting Expert
Success with Business Development & Client Relationship Building
A minimum of a BS in engineering, environmental, or an applied science
Excellent communication skills (presenting and writing)
