The Metropolitan Improvement District is currently hiring for the Downtown Safety Ambassador position. Downtown Ambassadors help to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who lives, works in, or visits Downtown Seattle. The job entails acting as an on-street concierge for the downtown community, addressing quality of life issues, and providing assistance for those in need.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve the downtown community by creating a positive experience for all.
  • Cover assigned areas to address quality of life issues, and provide customer service.
  • Work closely with the Outreach Team and the Community Mental Health Program to coordinate outreach to those in need.
  • Represent the MID at special events, including Out to Lunch concerts, the First Thursday Art Walk, and the Holiday Carousel.
  • Interact with businesses to connect them with appropriate City agencies and to assist with problem solving.

Qualifications

  • Local candidates only.
  • Must be able to ride a bicycle for up to ten hours a shift in all weather conditions.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work under minimal supervision, as well as work as part of a team.
  • Strong ability to work and interact with the public.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of Downtown Seattle and its community a plus, but not required.
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.

Compensation

Starting pay is $15.00. Generous benefit package includes medical, dental, and vision, as well as paid time off, 401K retirement plan, and annual ORCA Pass.
