The Construction Field Engineer – IT/Special Systems will report to the Area Manager – Technology/ Special Systems Integration and be responsible for the successful delivery of the Systems compliance, construction delivery support, construction coordination, construction quality assurance, evaluation of change order request and field engineering from inception through closeout of all projects.
Handle multiple parallel construction activities related to Security, Communication, Fire Alarm, and Information Systems with emphasis placed on:
- Premises Wiring System, particularly optical fiber backbones and distributed antenna systems
- Access Control and Security
- Paging and Intercom
- Fire Alarm
- Building Management System
- Voice and Data
Coordination with Area Managers, other Resident Engineers and subcontractors associated with systems installation such as interior and electrical disciplines
Supervise and manage systems engineers and inspectors to ensure compliance of the installations with drawings and specifications
Resolve systems project design issues and construction conflicts. Use designers, trade specialists and interface control methods for resolution of technical issues.
Monitor construction budgets, including contingency, CGMP construction costs, and administration.
Serve as construction management liaison between designer and CMAR, through the Construction Manager, for review of requirements, specifications, and drawings for constructability.
Provide recommendations for solutions to technical issues during design, construction, commissioning, and turn over.
The successful candidate will have the following:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology or related discipline or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, certification, training, skills, knowledge, abilities and aviation experience.* Knowledge of building wiring practices and inside telecommunications systems implementation is required.
Minimum ten (10) years of progressive U.S. aviation Systems design and construction experience with capital projects of $200 million or greater in value.
Familiar with a wide range of project delivery methods (for example design-bid-build, design-build, and construction manager at risk).
Experienced in interpreting and reviewing the Systems contract documents including but not limited to schematic design (SD-30% documents), design development documents (DD-60% documents), construction documents (CD-100% documents), bid and award, conformed documents, requests for information (RFI), change orders, submittals, bulletins, as built drawings and close out documentation.
Experience with and understanding of Airport Systems including SACS (Security Access Control System), CUTE (Common Use Terminal Equipment), CUSS (Common Use Self Service), CUPPS (Common Use Passenger Processing System), FIDS (Flight Information Display System), MUFIDS (Multi User Flight Information Display System), BIDS (Baggage Information Display System), BSM (Baggage Sortation Message), PIDS (Passenger Information Display System), and PAS (Public Address System).
Field engineering experience is required to verify installation conformance with plans and specifications, participate in certification testing and commissioning, be able to assist with field decisions and help resolve construction conflicts on all TRP projects.
Experience with and understanding of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) rules and guidelines.
