The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Classification Technician in the Corrections Division of the Police Department. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for the classification for up to one (1) year.

Under general supervision is responsible for evaluating inmates, based on inmate history and current charges and recommending appropriate classification and custody level in Detention Center to ensure security of staff and other inmates and performs related duties as required.

Position Schedule Information:
This position is subject to shift work and candidates must be willing to work rotating shifts to include graveyard, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, social work, or a closely related field
Two (2) years of experience conducting classification studies on inmates in a detention or correction center
Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered

All candidates who wish to be considered for this position will need to be in Henderson, Nevada to participate in the testing process at any time on the dates listed above. Although not preferred, SKYPE will be available (only for the Oral Board Interview) to candidates who are unable to participate in person.
