We are seeking a Staff Accountant I, to join our team of highly skilled professionals. The Staff Accountant will provide accounting support to CFO, Senior Accountants and METI Corporate Office in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department.
Location: El Paso, TX
Ensure that all billing requirements are met on a monthly basis.
Process billing transactions.
Resolve billing discrepancies.
Prepare assigned billings to be reviewed by senior staff.
Accounts payable process.
Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
Sort and distribute incoming mail.
Prioritize invoices according to cash discount potential and payment terms.
Process check requests.
Audit and process credit card bills.
Match invoices to checks, obtain all signatures for checks and distribute checks accordingly.
Respond to all vendor inquiries.
Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies.
Assist in month end closing.
Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
Approve and process payroll tax reporting to all entities.
Maintain ISO compliance on all purchase orders issued.
Assist with external audits to ensure compliance with all reporting requirements are met.
Complete requested materials.
Prepare supporting schedules.
Schedule timely delivery of requested information.
Responsible for electronic storage of all work papers.
Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.
Prepare supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule, as assigned.
Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.
Other duties assigned by supervisor or management.
A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a Bachelor’s degree in business with emphasis in accounting, is required or work equivalent.
Must be skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.
Must be skilled in use of Excel Spreadsheets.
Must be skilled in use of MS Word.
Must have good verbal skills.
Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in accounting is required.
