The primary purpose of this position, MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (PASSENGER BUS DRIVER), WG-5703-06, is to operate buses capable of carrying 16 or more passengers, primarily within the confines of a military installation or under other limited driving conditions (low speeds, predetermined routes, etc.).
Drive one or more types of passenger buses which carry 16 or more passengers.
Perform operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels, air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing of vehicles, and performing inspection checklists to ensure safe and proper operations.
Maintain records and document actions, such as operator inspection checklists/forms and accident/incident reports.
Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5700 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operation Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Physical effort is moderate. Work requires reaching, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls. Associated duties require stooping, bending, and climbing. Lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds and heavier objects with assistance. A PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL IS REQUIRED.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Drivers will mainly operate vehicles may work outside in all kinds of weather primarily on the installation. Drivers are exposed to dirt, fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents when loading and unloading the vehicle.

This is a TERM position. It is a time limited position, NTE 2 years. Position may be extended up to a maximum of six years. This position may be converted to a permanent, career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such modified term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.
