Lead the department in strategic and operational planning, development, implementation, negotiations, execution and ongoing management of Association travel technology functionality and content for members and agents with an omni-channel focus. Formulates travel technology strategy, travel-focused mobile & social media initiatives, new business models & concepts, member engagement opportunities within the Vacation Lifecycle, and tactics to respond to the changing competitive landscape. Coordinates and enables the development of online and offline solutions and enhancements for core travel products (including cruise, tour, hotel, car and air), partnering closely with AAA Travel Information & Content, preferred partner suppliers, GDS partners, preferred OTA, and outside technology providers. Assists with all aspects of the strategic planning, contracting, project planning, requirements development, Club sponsorship, R&D funding, testing, and Club implementation for AAA.com/Travel and AAA Travel professionals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develops strategy and executes technology plans and solutions for an omni-channel solutions that provide clubs, members, and partners with relevant engagement touch points within the Vacation Lifecycle to access content, shop, and book air, car, hotel, tour, cruise and other travel products via digital mechanisms. Acts as key coordination and prioritization conduit of all Travel digital initiatives. Manages the development of business requirements, vendor sourcing, contracting, and management, Club sponsorship, quality assurance (QA) testing, and deployment of enhancements and new Travel functionality. Works closely and collaborate with the Association’s preferred and non-preferred OTA online booking providers and clubs to ensure peak online performance by exploring new functionality and enhancements, customer service improvements, and marketing opportunities. Works with Travel Information & Content to leverage AAA Travel Information to differentiate the AAA travel agency experience.
Develops and manages implementation of the Association Travel Technology Plan. Responsible for the Association's travel agency distribution strategies and execution, including inventory management systems. Negotiates, contracts, and manages partnerships with travel system vendors and the Association’s preferred Global Distribution System (GDS) provider. Explores new agent facing technology solutions including innovative agent desktops and content solution.
Interacts with other departments to ensure that all Travel, Travel Information & Content, eBusiness, Discounts & Rewards, and Information Services strategic action plans are executed collaboratively. (10%)
Provides leadership in identifying, researching and justifying new digital Travel technologies/opportunities that may have Association applicability. Champions R&D business case development and funding for travel-related digital and technology initiatives.
Serves and contributes to Association committees such as the Travel Subcommittee (TSC), Technology and Digital Channel Subcommittee (TDCS), etc. Leads club taskforces and advisory groups when applicable. Prepares written reports, financial analysis, and presentations on Association Travel initiatives for senior management and the Association governance structure. Formulates and maintains Association-wide Travel standards and gains MBC and Board approval.
Plans, develops, and enhances the delivery of the Association’s AAA Vacations program for AAA travel professionals, preferred cruise/tour partners, and members. Directs enhancements to AAA Vacations online landing webpages and eBrochure capabilities.
Develops and manages annual Travel Technology operational budget and R&D capital accounts.
Working knowledge of AAA and/or experience in progressively responsible positions in the hospitality, cruise, tour, online travel, travel wholesale, travel agency, or general travel industry is preferred
Knowledge of systems management processes, networking, project management, business and financial analysis, and digital strategy development
Creative and strategic thinker capable of providing current as well as long-range e-commerce, digital, and Technology management leadership
Experienced in digital technologies including mobile and social media engagement mechanisms.
Proven ability to manage multiple and complex projects in a technical environment
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) and proven negotiating skills
Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Well-developed problem solving capabilities
Finely tuned general management skills
Solid understanding of financials and proven ability to plan and achieve/exceed budgets and goals

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred)
5+ years of relevant, progressive experience in managing e-commerce and large scale technology projects
Experience working across enterprise-level digital platforms and technologies (web, mobile/app)
mid-level leadership experience in a matrixed environment, with strong project management and critical analysis skills
