This is a temporary SCA position of undetermined length.
Position is temporary full-time non-exempt (SCA) working with the Life Cycle Contractor Support for the Warfighter FOCUS (WFF) program under the Warrior Training Alliance (WTA) at the National Training Center (NTC). WTA brings to bear the full capabilities of many of the world’s best systems integration and engineering companies in the technical integration of live, virtual and constructive (LVC) training support. The WFF NTC is located at Fort Irwin, CA, in the Mojave Desert, approximately forty miles northeast of Barstow, CA. WTA operations support the NTC mission: to provide realistic joint and combined arms training focused on developing soldiers, leaders, and units of the United States military for success on the 21st Century Battle Field.
Responsibilities: Operates and maintains current and future audio, video, and network equipment that records and transmits/routes in support of the NTC Operations Group. Must be experienced with installation, operation, service and troubleshooting of audio/video and network components, and be able to terminate and label various types of cabling (coax, ethernet, etc.). Will support the Insurgent Communications Network (ICN) closed network systems that consists of hardware support of switches, Hubs, Routers, Ethernet connections or Fiber Optics. Will set-up, operate, and maintain fixed and mobile After Action Review (AAR) theaters that consist of broadcast studio equipment. Will set-up, operate and maintain Mobile Video Units (MVUs) used to transmit and receive live video of training exercises through RF microwave system or Fiber Optics transmission. Support and maintain an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) system with live and virtual feeds from multiple training resources that are displayed on a Closed Caption Television (CCTV) network. At times will be required to fly to remote sites in a military or contractor aircraft to troubleshoot, fix and repair various systems. Ensures all maintenance, supply and property actions are documented in Maximo. May Lead and coordinate maintenance assignment activities for lower level technicians of the Field Video (FVT) and Video Repair Support (VRST) Teams.Ensures all company and work section standards and procedures are followed. Track maintenance trends, identifies problem areas and develops corrective action to reverse negative trends. Install, set-up, operates, maintains, and repairs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radio, television, telecommunications, Wireless systems), and industrial and measuring equipment. Applies technical knowledge of electronics principals in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skills in restoring equipment operations. Using complex test equipment applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents. Ensures completion of maintenance logs and other required documentation. Any other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities can include: Functional testing consisting of performing operational and diagnostic checks and scheduled preventive maintenance, unscheduled (corrective) maintenance and repair; to include troubleshooting, replacement of faulty parts and realignment and check out of systems; employment of a variety of specialized test equipment and complex electronic schematics and diagrams in conducting fault isolation, and use the data gained through the troubleshooting/repair process to prepare and revise maintenance instructions and procedures and to recommend and implement manufacturer/engineering changes. Must be competent at reading schematics and network diagrams. Must have a thorough understanding of a variety of specialized test equipment applicable to network systems. Will train lower level technicians in all areas applicable to the Audio/Video and network systems. When needed, will assist the Engineering Department during system upgrades and integration to meet Army requirements. Will adhere to Company, Site Manager, Division Manager and Team leader directives, memoranda, policies and procedures. Support quality/ISO, security and training programs.
Desired Physical Abilities: Ability to perform duties and travel in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wind) and at height (helicopter travel, mountain tops, elevated walk areas, towers).
Special Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen with a valid driver license and maintain Post driving privileges. Obtain Military licenses & Night Vision certification if required. Travel off road in company 4x4 vehicles and military tactical vehicles if required. Must be able to train and obtain a Class A driver’s license if required. Must be able to lift a maximum of 40 lbs and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Willing to work any shift to include weekends and Holidays. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
2 years of related work experience
AA in Electronics Technology or equivalent trade or military schooling.
Desired experience: Five years in related fields.
Minimum Education Required:
High School Diploma or GED
