Sherman Associates is currently seeking an IT Intern to support a company-wide implementation of Sharepoint / Office 365! This role will partner closely with leaders across Sherman's diverse business to support the setup and migration of data into this new user interface.
This role is immediately available for part-time hours and can flex to full-time in Summer 2020.
Position Summary: The IT/SharePoint Intern will directly assist Sherman Associates with the migration to SharePoint. The incumbent will receive hands-on experience with all aspects of the project, including planning, development, and implementation. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the Intern will learn how to take skills acquired through formal education and apply them in a professional setting.
Works with Technology Team to gather information from various department leaders.
Assists department leaders in the clean-up process prior to migration to SharePoint.
Works with supervisor and Technology team to create/update implementation schedule for this multi-phased transition.
Attends and tracks progress at weekly Technology Team meetings.
Assists with documentation in all phases of the project.
Works with Legal and Technology Team to keep retention guidelines updated.
SharePoint Site Development
Collaborates with Technology Team and Department Leads to identify specific needs for each department site.
Works closely with Department Leads with transferring content from current platform into SharePoint in an organized and innovative manner.
Takes initiative to seek out resources that may be helpful in the SharePoint implementation process.
Researches currents trends and practices and assists the company developing department sites and uploading content.
Completes additional SharePoint or IT tasks as assigned.
Communicates collaboratively with each Department Lead, and shares updates weekly with the Technology Team.
Works closely with the Learning and Development team and VP of Asset Management and assists with SharePoint communication meetings and training.
Works one-on-one with end-users and utilizes the learning model of tell, show, do, and review while teaching SharePoint to end-users.
Current enrollment in an undergraduate Information Technology, Business, Communications, or related degree program.
Strong IT skills as well as expertise in SharePoint, Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong technical skills and prior experience as a SharePoint super-user.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, problem-solving, and planning skills.
Willing to learn and be open to suggestions.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to exercise judgment and suggest creative approaches.
Is team-oriented and flexible in assuming new responsibilities as they arise.
Proficient in SharePoint, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Exposed to ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment found in a typical office environment; quiet to moderate noise level.
Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 20-25 pounds.
Occasionally required to walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop; talk and hear.
Specific vision abilities required by the job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
