The role will be part of the Solution Architecture Discipline which exists to define the technical vision, design and specifications to deliver solutions to business problems, therefore it is important to have a broad understanding of information technology and solution delivery.
The solution architect translates requirements created by functional analysts into the architecture for that solution and describing it through architecture and design artifacts. Providing effective technical leadership requires a broad understanding of information technology and solution delivery.
Present and brief the architecture community on key projects/technologies.
Ensures services are in line with business requirements and agreed through relevant boards and committees
Ensure all technology used is compliant, or has an approved exception.
The role of the Solution Architect leads the delivery of assigned architecture activities and provides general support to Lead IT Architects and two levels above. The jobholder contributes to the design and development of architectures that are aligned with Group, IT and business strategy, meet business objectives and satisfy all relevant regulatory and operational risk controls. The category role is responsible for engaging and participating with the global practice of architecture within their relevant area.
The Solutions Architect will partner with key stakeholders to:
Define and deliver solutions platforms with tiered service levels whilst adopting Agile methods
Applying architectural risk management techniques and decision making principles to ensure that RBWM delivery velocity is maintained without compromising architectural integrity
Seek to push forward Cloud and Software As A Service strategies to provide cost effective and future proofed solutions for HDS

Enable effective regulatory, audit & security controls
The Solutions Architect acts as the lead technical authority for the design and development of Digital solutions, taking advantage of technologies, architectures and methods to organise and interrogate huge volumes of unstructured data
The Solution Architect will:
Manage and govern HSBC US RBWM service offerings acting as the liaison between the all stakeholders responsible for delivery of Digital solutions using Agile method
Partner with HSBC’s business and developers in ensuring the possibilities afforded by the emergence of Cloud offerings are understood
Ability to quickly understand current data structures, including sources, warehouses, lakes and analytics platforms and tooling.
Knowledge of cloud providers, what technologies they provide, and the use cases they serve. Deep knowledge Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services certification will be a significant advantage.
Knowledge of the regulatory environment applicable to data used within financial services. This includes data legislation both existing and proposed, and the approach and views of the local regulators.
Understanding of data analysis, and it’s future. This includes big data scale analysis and machine learning.
Experience of data governance as applied in a DevOps context and data management at an enterprise scale.
Sound experience of working within a DevOps / Agile ecosystem.
Providing technical architectural expertise, guidance and support on the implementation of the strategy within programmes and projects in the region.
Articulate and manage architectural risks and issues and implement light touch and effective architecture governance.
Support the delivery teams make the most of the technologies adopted and help them transition to cloud based system.

The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with the Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.
A good First degree in computing related discipline.
8-10 years of relevant System development , or design experience in delivery role in financial services environment.
Subject Matter Expertise in respect of the technical aspects of the Retail Banking Customer, Operations and Regulatory System.
Exceptional stakeholder management. The solution architect will need to work with various business units, the IT organisation. The applicant needs to be a leader, a diplomat and a persuader to ensure data is handled well.
Technical evangelist for data to convince the stakeholders of their point of view, and that data deserves their attention.
Demonstrated knowledge of the Financial Services industry including industry trends, competitive pressures, product and service offerings and organisational operating models.
Experience of working within a large, complex and geographically dispersed organisation (including matrix management structure and across time zones).
