SCC Early Childhood Centers has served the community since 1987, providing crucial high-quality care and education to children from Birth-12 years of age. Due to recent program expansion, positions in our Birth-3 program, as well as our Preschool and School-Age program are available. We are seeking a responsive, knowledgeable and dynamic Early Head Start Teachers in our child care program in Skokie.

Lead Teacher: Must have Infant/Toddler Coursework

As the leader of the classroom team, the Lead Teacher provides an engaging safe, and developmentally appropriate environment by delivering optimal supervision of children, high-quality curriculum, observations, classroom activities, daily routines and caregiving, classroom management, and daily communication. Lead Teachers train and oversee the work of other classroom staff.

Lead Teachers must have 60 semester hours of college with at least 15 hours in ECE AND at least Level 2 ITC credential. Within 6 months of hire must obtain at least a Level 3 or above ITC credential.

Master Teacher/Director Designee:

As a departmental leader (age-group based or location-based), the Master Teacher exercises their expertise in early childhood education to oversee staff with respect to curriculum, assessment, program development, and compliance with state and local regulatory agencies. Master Teachers are Lead Teachers in an assigned classroom.

In addition to the basic requirements for the position of Lead Teacher, Master Teachers must possess a BA in ECE AND Level 3 or above ITC credential. Within 6 months of hire must obtain at least a Level 4 ITC credential.


Are there ID or minimum age requirements or minimum credentials required prior to employment as an Early Childhood Teacher (Infant, Toddler, Preschool) at our child care programs in Skokie. ?

Yes - please see below:

1. Teacher candidates must be at least 18 years of age and hold a valid US high school diploma or equivalent.

2. Lead Teacher or Master Teacher candidates must be at least 21 years of age and hold an associate degree (Lead) or bachelor's degree (Master) in early childhood education (or equivalent). Master teacher and lead teacher candidates must also have or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire, at least a level 3 credential ( relevant to the age group for which they will be hired).

3. Prior to employment, candidates must possess a Gateways Level 1 ECE credential (candidates who already possess a Level 3 (or higher) Infant/Toddler or ECE credential are considered as having that this requirement.

4. Prior to employment, candidates must produce evidence of completion (within the past 30 months) of: SIDS and shaken baby syndrome training, mandated reporter training
