Edgewater Federal Solutions is currently seeking an Oracle PL/SQL Developer to provide support to the DOE Energy Information Administration Systems Development, Maintenance and Technical Support task contract located in Washington, DC.
As an Oracle PL/SQL Developer, you will be a key member of the Database Group, providing overall database support with concentration in back-end programming. The PL/SQL Developer will be responsible for properly maintaining source code sets, necessary technical documentation, and for assisting the DBAs and Database Architects in overall database support.
In this role, you will leverage your knowledge of Oracle database development and be instrumental in the successful implementation of our Pega-based, enterprise software product. This is a role with unique visibility and tremendous growth potential!
Demonstrated ability to develop complex views and SQL queries
Experience with Oracle version 11g, 12c and above
Strong experience with Oracle views, functions, procedures, triggers, packages and performance tuning
Knowledge of shell scripting/UNIX scripting
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as (Git,SVN)
Experience with Java, Object Oriented Programming, and stored procedures desirable
Participates in or provides input to the logical data modeling process in order to ensure that business requirements are translated into a valid database design
Uses logical data models to create and maintain physical database designs which meet identified business needs and provide adequate safeguards for security and integrity
Working with a data modeler, leads access modeling sessions to complete physical database design requirements
Participates in the physical database design process
Ensures databases provide required functionality to meet identified business needs
Develops strategies for optimizing performance through improved design
Database Implementation and Maintenance ·
Implements databases for testing and production
Identifies opportunities for query optimization and performance improvement
Collaborates with developers and consumers of the data to implement views and procedures that are optimized for consumption
Migrates data from database to database
Participates in database problem resolution support based on required business service levels
Consults with customers, application areas, and other technical and support areas on database-related topics
Consults with customers, systems areas, support personnel and software vendors to determine requirements and resolve technology issues
Monitors and reports project status to appropriate individuals and identifies issues which may impact project results and brings them to the attention of the appropriate people
Database New Product/Version Testing & Evaluation
Tests upgrades/new releases of database software and related products; assesses impacts to customers and the database environment.
Provides application support
Participates in vendor application software evaluation, installation, and proof of concept activities
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Minimum of 5-10 years of related database analysis/development experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical topics to management and non-technical audiences
Knowledge of system architecture design/industry best practices
Must be a highly skilled IT professional with extensive experience in data processing including applications programming, testing, user documentation and training
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
