About the Role
As a Tax Manager, you will support small business owners in saving time and alleviating stress by handling accounting and compliance with reliable systems, all while helping them work towards their retirement and financial objectives.
You’ll be responsible for managing tax-related activities, including customer correspondence, tax return preparation and research, audit management, process development, and mentorship.
What Your Day to Day Will Look Like
· Oversee, communicate & be responsible for a group of our clients to ensure that they are well-serviced from A-Z and that they are kept satisfied
- Correspond with clients to discuss, explain and advise on tax-related matters
- Prepare and process year-end financial statements, 1040, 1065, 1120 and 1120-S Tax Returns
- Research tax issues that arise from planning or compliance work
- Engage in tax planning for small businesses and individuals
- Assist in onboarding new clients by helping to clean up messy books
- Correspond with the tax authorities when required
- Quarterback any sales tax and corporate tax audits that may arise
- Assist in the development of systems and processes pertaining to the tax department
- Pitch in for matters relating to full-cycle accounting when required
- Coach and mentor accountants and tax juniors
What You Need to Succeed
- You can deliver spectacular customer service, you have great communication skills and you are able to easily explain difficult concepts
- You have a CPA or EA designation
- You have 5+ years of tax experience working in a firm or in industry
- You have experience negotiating tax audits with the tax authorities
- You are confident and are comfortable with being the decision-maker with regards to tax issues at the firm
- You are exceptionally detail-oriented
- You are tech-savvy
- You are a problem solver
- You are able to and like working in a fast-paced environment
- You are able to meet tight deadlines
- You are familiar with filing R&D tax claims
- You know how to use Drake tax preparation software

Our Recruitment Process
Your application will be reviewed and those moving to the next step will be asked to complete a brief 5-question one-way video interview where you will answer these questions on your own time via your webcam. Following that, successful candidates moving to the next step will be asked to take part in a 1-on-1 video interview. Candidates who successfully complete the 1-on-1 interview will be given a skills test. Upon successful completion of that professional references will be contacted.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $125,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
