Stipended Teen Recycling Group Facilitator Internship



**Are you passionate about recycling? Do you want to share that passion while growing a team of teen community recycling leaders as well?**

YWCA Lowell seeks an energetic, highly motivated college student for a unique internship experience in our expanding Youth Services Department. This is a stipended position with an expectation of 6 hours per week, that includes extensive hands-on experiential learning and teaching opportunities as well as on-site field supervision. Candidates must have the ability to work with and mentor high risk high school aged youth.


  • Support of the YWCA's mission: eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
  • Assist in actively recruiting teen participants in after-school youth development and community recycling initiative;
  • Facilitate twice weekly after school group sessions for teen recycling group;
  • Assist in developing expanding community recycling partnerships;
  • Assist in developing community recycling collection plan;
  • Assist in delivering recycled materials to appropriate partners.


  • Undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Human Services or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge/experience/passion for community recycling.
  • Knowledge of and experience in addressing the needs of youth.
  • Excellent communication skills including working within diverse racial and cultural groups.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Successful completion of CORI / SORI and reference review prior to hiring.
  • Dependable automobile with a valid driver's license and documentation of safe driving record.
  • Expectation is a minimum one school-year commitment.
