Description:
This position plays a critical role maintaining and facilitating the partnership between the food bank and longtime partner Martha’s Table. The Joyful Food Market Program is a partnership with Martha’s Table to provide monthly farmers market-style distributions of healthy groceries, including fresh produce, and complementary nutrition education to children and their families at risk of hunger at school sites in Wards 7 and 8 in Washington, D.C. The Youth Nutrition Coordinator (YNC) is responsible for placing food orders and collaborating with CAFB colleagues to ensure program excellence. The YNC is the point of contact for Martha’s Table (MT) and works in partnership with MT staff to ensure accurate food orders and data tracking for monthly Joyful Food Markets.
Position Requirements/Essential Functions:
Program Administration (90%)
- Collaborate with Martha’s Table on monthly menu and facilitate orders with produce distributor;
- Place all food orders for all Joyful Food Markets;
- Manage all programmatic invoicing and payment of vendor produce bills;
- Collaborate with internal teams to plan and procure menu items;
- Ensure monthly distribution calendar is accurate and communicate delivery details with the transportation team for all orders;
- Maintain regular communication with Martha’s Table staff to ensure seamless program implementation;
- Regularly attend JFM distributions in the community on a weekly basis;
- Address concerns in a productive and respectful way;
- Participate in Joyful Food Market site leader trainings and represent food bank as a partner in this work;
- Facilitate the improvement of the program operational model with the Manager, DDP.
Monitoring and Compliance (10%)
- Maintain and update all records pertaining to the Joyful Food Market Program;
- Manage monthly reporting and client participation as required by Food Bank or any of its supporters;
- Monitor sites and be responsive to site coordinators to ensure program guidelines are met;
- Support any transition of evaluation methods at all sites;
- Exercises safe food handling and warehouse safety practices;
